Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who helps us handle it and what choices you have. We follow Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect

Details you send us. Your name, email, phone number, the property address, preferred dates and anything you write in a form.
How you found us. The page you first arrived on, the site that sent you and any campaign tags in the link. This is stored in a first-party cookie for 90 days and saved with your enquiry if you send one.
Security information. Your IP address and basic browser details, used to stop spam and abuse. We keep a short record of form submissions per IP address to limit repeated sends.
Analytics, only if you agree. If you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner, we measure which pages are visited. If you decline, these tools do not set cookies.

How we use it

To reply to you and arrange and carry out your inspection.
To send you what you asked for, such as the home buying checklist.
To understand which pages help people find us, so we can improve the site.

We do not sell your information, and we do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask.

If we are not taking bookings yet and you ask us to, we may pass your enquiry to another home inspector so you are not left waiting. The form tells you when this applies, and we only share it if you send the form with that note showing.

We may also share information if the law requires it.

Who helps us run the site

These providers process information on our behalf and only for the purposes above. Some are based outside Canada, mainly in the United States, so your information may be stored or handled there and be subject to those countries’ laws.

Cloudflare: hosts the website and checks forms for spam (Turnstile).
Neon: hosts our database, where form submissions are stored.
Resend: sends our emails, including the replies and checklist you ask for.
Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics: only if you accept analytics cookies.

Cookies

ehi_attr: remembers how you found the site, for 90 days.
ehi_consent: remembers your cookie choice, for 180 days.
Analytics cookies: set by Google only if you accept them.

You can change your cookie choice at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or clear cookies in your browser.

How long we keep it

If your enquiry does not lead to an inspection, we delete it within two years of our last contact. If we inspect a home for you, we keep the booking and report for as long as we need to for legal, insurance and tax reasons.

How we protect it

Form submissions are only visible to us in a password-protected admin area, and connections to the site are encrypted.

Your choices

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it when we no longer need it. You can also withdraw your consent to us using it, subject to any legal requirements. Contact us through our contact page and we will reply within 45 days, as PIPA requires.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the bottom of it.
